The Department of International Trials, Center for Clinical Sciences, National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM) has been hosting the NCGM International Infectious Diseases Forum to promote international development through industry-government-academia collaboration, primarily in the field of infectious diseases. This forum serves as a platform for information dissemination by experts and facilitates the exchange of opinions among relevant parties, including companies, medical institutions, and research organizations from Japan and abroad. We are pleased to announce that the 17th NCGM International Infectious Diseases Forum will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

According to the WHO, despite various preventive measures against hepatitis B virus (HBV), the number of new hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections worldwide reaches approximately 1.5 million cases annually, with the number of individuals living with chronic hepatitis B approaching 300 million. As the third installment of the "Notable Infectious Diseases" series, this forum will focus on "Forefront of Diagnosis & Treatment of Viral Hepatitis, and Future Prospects." Experts from Japan and abroad will present their latest findings, focusing primarily on trends in HBV infection and treatment in Asian countries, as well as diagnostic markers developed in Japan and the current state and future outlook of hepatitis treatment.
